The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that promotes and protects human rights globally, with a focus on closed societies.

HRF’s Art in Protest program was born as a counterforce to the repression of creativity that authoritarian regimes impose and stands at the forefront of supporting dissident artists. Art in Protest elevates artists working in countries ruled by authoritarian regimes or in exile, whose art is connected to their struggle for democracy and basic human rights. Through a residency program, exhibition space offerings, and new global platforms, HRF offers dissident artists the opportunity to enhance their work and expand their reach in the face of repression.
