For the term of your natural life
June 16–27, 2025
Overview
The Architectural Association Visiting School Sydney is currently seeking applicants for its 2025 program, held in Sydney, Australia. The two-week intensive studio will critically engage with the cultural, political, and spatial impacts of catastrophic climate change in Australia using the knowledge and tools of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design. Students will be trained with large-scale and time-based digital representation methods, which they will be expected to use in support of a concise and research-based position.
The AA Visiting School Sydney will be taught in partnership with the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning (SSADP) at the University of Sydney. Working from SSADP’s Darlington campus, on the traditional and unceded lands of the Gadi people, students will engage with Aboriginal Australian knowledge holders and professionals, visit exemplary architectural sites, and engage with the work of architecture in professional practice, government, and the field.
Students can expect to spend time in the temperate rainforests of the Illawarra region, go backstage at a major arts museum, visit a multispecies sanctuary, and present their research in a working rural fire station.
